The Chronicles - May

Hello and welcome to this edition of The De’stadia Chronicles, the official newsletter of the Rotaract Club of Bweyogerere Namboole.
This month we’ve been busy gearing up for the 15th Presidential Installation happening on the 27th of June. You might have seen countless flyers and #MomoInsta tagged posts on your feeds, simply because we are THAT excited! And in this edition we invite you to a conversation with the PE Maureen Nabweteme to get to know her a little better.
— Here are some other things we got up to:
We joined our partners Harris International to donate dustbins to Bethany Highschool Naalya in continuing efforts to promote environmental conservation and our partnerships with Interact
We held a special fellowship to celebrate our 5 incredible Awards at the 100th DISCON including the prestigious Club of the Year Award and Winner Community Service.
Installation season is fully on. We continue to join our partners in service to celebrate the transition of power.
Enjoy the Chronicles

Magical President of the Rotaract Club of Bweyogerere Namboole
Photo of the Month

Last month, the Rotaract Club of Naguru held the Katiiti project where they addressed several community needs and carried out tree planting. We were all captivated by this photo of youngster Joshua.
Besides the heartwarming cuteness, it prompted me to reflect on how important it is to not only show young people the beauty of conserving our home, the earth, but also involving them. Because in those small gentle hands lies the future of this planet.

A Chat with the PE

Before the title, there's the person.
We recently caught up with our President-Elect, not to talk plans and projects, but to get to know her. And what a conversation it was. Let’s dive right in.
What inspired you to join Rotaract?
The desire to make a meaningful and sustainable impact
To meet new people and create meaningful friendships.
For professional networking.
What is the best part about being a member of De’stadia?
Well, De’stadia gets me out of my shell. I have learnt to face challenges instead of running away from them. The friendships and support in De’stadia are out of this world.
What excites you the most about leading volunteers?
Learning from each other and understanding that volunteers do not owe you anything.
The spirit of teamwork among members.
Ooohh, the fun activities and the joy that comes with volunteers. De’stadia members can take your stress away, these guys know how to have fun.
What’s the most rewarding service project you’ve ever been part of, and why was it special to you?
The ongoing Lwankoni DHP, each phase is special in its way. My best part so far was providing bunk SSbeds to the boy's dormitory, I vividly remember the state in which the boys were sleeping, some on the dusty floor. Their joy was exceptional upon seeing those beds. And now I look forward to the completion of the classroom block.
Imagine there is a theme song for your leadership term—what would it be?
Hahaha! Song, uhmmmmm…ok! Let's go with Katy Perry’s ROAR.
If you had unlimited resources for one dream project, what would it be?
Would spend all monies and resources on eradicating Teenage Pregnancies and ensuring all girls have access to sanitary wear. (I get emotional just saying it)
What’s one fun or unexpected fact about you that most club members don’t know?
I love food exploration. I try any kind of food as long as it's edible.
If you could have lunch with any past or present Rotary/Rotaract leader, who would it be and what would you ask them?
Past DRR Emanuel Lukeera.
What’s one message you’d like to share with the club as you take on this leadership journey?
Teamwork makes the Dream work. Let’s support each other, embrace new ideas, and push ourselves beyond what we thought was possible. Together, we can create something amazing where everyone’s contribution matters, and every voice is heard. Let’s make this experience one we’ll always remember!
What would your superpower be if you were a superhero?
My super power would be the ability to HEAL. There is a lot of pain and hate in society and I wish I could take all of it away.
Club Member Spotlight✨
In this space, we spotlight and celebrate our members who’ve made major strides in service, with notable achievements worth celebrating
![]() | Ratisha Nakagiri, CounselThis month, we are proud to spotlight our Fundraising Chair, Ratisha. She gave 200% to her role as fundraising chair leading initiatives that got us the much needed funds projects this year. Additionally, she has used her vocation as a lawyer to help the club navigate the complex landscape of compliance as a legal entity. Members like Ratisha, keep the spirit of the club alive, and at De'stadia we are grateful to have her. |

At the Rotaract Club of Bweyogerere Namboole, we are committed to creating lasting change in our community. Every initiative we take is fueled by the generosity of people like you.
This month, we’re rallying support to continue building an A’level block at St. Herman’s SS Lwankoni—the only secondary school in the Lwankoni sub-county, Kyotera District. Each year, over 100 students risk dropping out after O’level because the nearest alternative schools are too far to reach.
