When You Empower Women, Everything Changes

February was action-packed for De’stadia. We are grateful for the people and partnerships that continue to create opportunities for us to serve communities in bigger and more meaningful ways.
A personal highlight for me was the skilling and empowerment programmes conducted in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala. To commemorate Peace and Conflict Resolution Month, we led a peace-building campaign and held important community dialogues focused on practicing peace in everyday life.
In Ntinda Market, we partnered with RC Uptown Kampala and Mkaziprenuer to deliver financial literacy training for women vendors, equipping them to better manage their income and remain resilient in the current economic environment. We also returned to Kyotera, Kalisizo for another financial literacy campaign, sponsored by Centenary Bank, alongside skills training to support sustainable income generation.
When you empower women, you empower communities. We are deeply grateful to our friends and partners — especially our corporate partner, Centenary Bank — for making these engagements possible.
Beyond our service activities, we joined Rotary District 9213 in welcoming the Rotary International President to Uganda. De’stadia was represented at two key events: Past President Pafra at the Membership Gala in Munyonyo, and our Vice Membership Chair, Maria Suzan Nakiwala, at RYLA. You can read more about their reflections in this edition.
This issue also features upcoming events and important updates from across the club.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your contribution to De’stadia is more valuable than you know.
Warm regards,
Maureen Nabweteme

Projects Spotlight - Financial Literacy Training, Kalisizo

Over the weekend, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala and with sponsorship from Centenary Bank, we successfully extended our Financial Literacy Campaign to Kalisizo Market in Kyotera District.
The training equipped women market vendors with practical skills in money management, saving, and smart investing. Participants were also introduced to additional income-generating opportunities, including liquid soap and petroleum jelly production, to help diversify and strengthen their income streams.
This initiative reflects our continued commitment to economic empowerment knowing that when women are equipped with financial knowledge, families and entire communities are uplifted.
We remain grateful to our partners and sponsors who made this impactful engagement possible.
Financial Literacy Training- Ntinda Market

In the same spirit, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala and Mkazi Prenuer, we conducted a successful Financial Literacy Training for vendors at New and Old Ntinda Markets.
Despite the rain, the sessions were well attended and highly engaging. Women vendors gained practical skills and knowledge in budgeting, saving, and smart investing to strengthen and grow their businesses.
Peace & Conflict Dialogues

In collaboration with the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala, we also held Peace and Conflict Resolution Dialogues within the community. The engagement focused on advocating for and actively practicing peace-building in our daily lives.
Through open conversations and shared experiences, we reinforced the importance of dialogue, understanding, and collective responsibility in fostering peaceful communities.

At the Rotaract Club of Bweyogerere Namboole, we are committed to creating lasting change in our community. Every initiative we take is fueled by the generosity of people like you.
This month, we’re rallying support to continue building an A’level block at St. Herman’s SS Lwankoni—the only secondary school in the Lwankoni sub-county, Kyotera District. Each year, over 100 students risk dropping out after O’level because the nearest alternative schools are too far to reach.
